ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to Clarkson University, 2-1, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
Clarkson scored twice less than 30 seconds apart in the ninth minute, carried a comfortable lead into the second half, then had to hang on down the stretch after Bard halved the lead on a stunning header by
Reed Campbell off a free kick from
Caleb Ribeiro in the 78th minute.
"I think playing back-to-back games in less than 24 hours, we lost concentration for a short period of time, and they scored twice," Bard coach
TJ Kostecky said. "The good news is that we won the second half. More shots, more corners, and one more goal. And that goal has to be a candidate for goal of the year. Service and a diving header. Wow."
Gavin Hersey made five saves for Bard.
"
Min Purvis stepped up and gave us good energy, which was really important in the second half," Kostecky said. "
Kristian Krslovic played 176 minutes in the last two days, and he was attacking from his left back position late in the game. For your left back to have that much juice in the tank is just phenomenal."
Bard's final road game of the season will be at RIT on Saturday.
