CANTON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team lost to St. Lawrence University, 2-1, in a Liberty League game on Friday afternoon.
The game was scoreless until the 66th minute, when the Saints scored a pair of goals less than a minute apart. Bard came back, though, and cut the lead in half on a goal by
Gillian Randall in the 76th minute. Randall beat two defenders, one after the other, and scored to the far post with her left foot.
"I was very pleased with the overall performance of the team," Bard coach
Kate Hofstede said. "We have been working in simplifying our game and focusing on 1-to-2 goals and it finally came together in this match.Â
"It's great to have Gilly (Randall) back in action, and she scored the lone goal off the bench in the second half," Hofstede added. "Her presence gives us better confidence in the attacking third."
Madeline Chilton made six saves in the first half for Bard, and
Sam Finn made three in the second half.
Bard gets right back on the field on Saturday, playing at Clarkson at 2 p.m.
"Hopefully we can build on this momentum against Clarkson," Hofstede said.
