ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team fell by a score of 90-65 to Union College (N.Y.) Saturday afternoon. The Raptors dropped their second matchup of the season to the Dutchmen on Senior Day, where senior guard
Waseer Mohamed played in his final home game.
Union (13-9, 10-6 LL) started off strong, picking up a 6-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Dutchmen played tough defense as the Raptors (0-22, 0-16 LL) struggled to make shots early. After Bard closed the gap to four points, Union claimed control with a 10-0 run midway through the first half. Andrew Laub (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.), who finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Dutchmen, scored four points during the stretch to help the visitors build their lead.
The Raptors then turned to sophomore forward
Stamatis Koulouris, who hit back-to-back threes to as part of his game-high 20 point performance. Freshman guard
Kevin Le then hit a pair of baskets as well, but Union finished the half strong, closing it out with a comfortable 52-31 lead.
Koulouris looked to get the Raptors back in the game early in the second half, scoring eight points early on. Unfortunately for the Raptors, 10 second half points from Kevin Jefferson (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) helped Union pull away. The visitors scored 12 straight points late in the second half to put the game out of reach and earned their 10th Liberty League victory of the year.
Koulouris led the Raptors with 20 points and seven rebounds on the day, while freshman forward
Tyler Bruns finished with 14 points. Freshman guard
Stefanos Psarras had a strong game, picking up 12 points, six assists and four rebounds, while Le chipped in with 10 points and five boards.
The Raptors now hit the road for their final two games of the season, starting with a matchup at Hobart College Friday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
