Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Freshman Psarras scores career-high 33 at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - Down 13 midway through the second half, the Bard College men's basketball team cut Clarkson's lead to six with 2:37 left, but the Golden Knights made their foul shots down the stretch and prevailed, 87-73, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.

The game was dead even through most of the first half, but Clarkson put together a 12-0 run to take a nine-point lead into the break. At that point, Clarkson had made 14-of-15 from the foul line, and Bard hadn't yet taken a free throw.

The Raptors cut the deficit to eight three times in the first five minutes of the second half, but Clarkson seemingly always responded, and the difference between the teams bounced back and forth between nine and 13 points for most of the period.

A three-pointer by Barryn Shark (New York, NY) gave Clarkson its biggest lead of the game, 70-54, with 6:50 remaining.

But the Raptors weren't done, responding with a 19-9 run, culminating with a three-pointer by Elliot Harris, to cut the deficit to 79-73 with 2:37 left.

Clarkson finished the game on an 8-0 run, including 6-for-6 from the foul line, to hold Bard off.

Bard freshman Stefanos Psarras had the best game of his young career, scoring 23 of his game-high 33 in the second half. He went 13-of-20 from the field, 6-of-7 from the foul line, and he added nine rebounds and four assists. Bard's other two high scorers are also freshmen. Harris battled foul trouble but still made six three-pointers and finished with 20 points, while Tyler Bruns scored all 11 of his points in the second half.

Chris Hulbert (Clifton Park, NY) led Clarkson with 21 points. The Golden Knights went 24-of-27 from the foul line, while Bard went 8-of-9.

Bard returns home for the first time since Jan. 11 when Vassar visits Annandale on Friday. Follow that game live right here.
