ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team dropped its first home game of the new year, falling 77-55 to Clarkson University Friday evening.
The Raptors (0-10, 0-4 LL) took an early 4-3 lead following two field goals from sophomore guard
Avo Sofroniou and freshman guard
Kevin Le, but the Golden Knights (4-7, 2-2 LL) then went on a tear, rattling off a 20-2 run to blow the game open midway through the first half. Clarkson continued to pad their lead, eventually pushing it up to 30 points as they took a 48-18 advantage into halftime.
Bard looked to close the gap early in the second half, as freshman guard
Elliot Harris and sophomore forward
Stamatis Koulouris each scored five points early on. Following a three pointer by freshman guard
Stefanos Psarras, the Raptors cut the deficit down to 19 points, but that was as close as they would get. The Golden Knights went on a 9-4 run to push the lead back over 20, and never looked back as they cruised to a 22 point road victory.
Koulouris and Psarras tied for the team lead with 12 points on the night, with Psarras adding eight rebounds and Koulouris picking up four rebounds, four steals and a team-leading four assists. Harris added nine points and six rebounds and Sofroniou picked up six points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Raptors are right back in action Saturday afternoon, when they host Liberty League opponent St. Lawrence University at 4:00 p.m.
