CANTON, N.Y. - Playing in their first conference match of the 2019 season, the Bard College women's volleyball team fell short in their matchup with St. Lawrence University, dropping a 3-0 decision Friday evening.
The Raptors (3-9, 0-1 LL) hung in early in the first set, trailing 5-4, but the Saints (13-3, 1-0 LL) then went on a 20-4 run to close out the set and take a 1-0 lead.
Bard had a similar second set, tying the score at six apiece before St. Lawrence took control. The Saints built a strong lead, then won the final six points to take the set by a 25-13 score and go up 2-0 in the match. St. Lawrence took an early lead in set three, winning five of the first six points, and never looked back, picking up the win with a 25-16 victory in the third.

Jewel Smith finished the night with 10 assists and seven digs.
The Raptors are back in action Saturday, Sept. 28, as they continue Liberty League play with a 2 p.m. match at Clarkson University.
