ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - In the team's final match before starting Liberty League conference play, the Bard College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Baruch College Wednesday night.
The Raptors got off to a good start in set one, winning three of the first four points, but the Bearcats came back strong in the middle of the set, winning nine of 12 points to take the lead. The visitors then closed out the first set on a 6-0 run to win by a score of 25-17 and go up one set.
The home team was not able to get much going in the second set, as Baruch took command early and never looked back, ending the set by winning six of eight points to go up 2-0, taking the set by a 25-14 score. The Raptors came back strong early in the third set, as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead. But once again, the Bearcats were able to respond. The visitors won nine out of 10 points to take command of the set and were able to close the match out in straight sets, picking up a 25-16 victory in set three.
Junior
Mikala L'Hote led the Raptors with seven kills on the night, and senior
Maracela Talamantes added five kills and seven digs. Senior
Jewel Smith had 19 assists during the match to go along with three digs, and senior
Emily Anastasi picked up 18 digs.
The Raptors now turn their attention to the Liberty League, as they kick off conference play with a matchup at St. Lawrence University Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
