Competing in their second tri-match in two weeks, the Bard College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matchups to both Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) and Hartwick College Saturday afternoon.
The Raptors (3-7) started the day against Mount Saint Mary (4-7). Bard was able to hang close in both the first and second sets, but were unable to come away victorious, leaving them down 0-2 to start the match. In the third set, the Knights took control and put the match away, as the home team fell in a 22-25, 25-27, 15-25 decision.
For the match, junior
Mikala L'Hote led the Raptors with eight kills. Senior
Maracela Talamantes followed with five kills while also picking up eight digs. Senior
Jewel Smith added 15 assists and 11 digs, while
Emily Anastasi had 23 digs.
In match two, Bard faced off with a tough Hartwick team. The Hawks (9-5) got off to a strong start and never looked back. The visitors claimed all three sets as the Raptors fell 16-25, 18-25, 20-25.
L'Hote once again led the Raptors with eight kills, while Talamantes added four kills and four digs. Smith had 17 assists and seven digs, and Anastasi recorded 20 digs during the match.
The Raptors return to the court Tuesday, Sept. 24, when they host Baruch College in their final match before starting conference play. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
