SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Bard College women's volleyball team, which won its first two games at the 2019 Slugfest at UC-Santa Cruz, lost its final two games there on Saturday.
The Raptors were swept by Franklin (25-16, 25-9, 25-15) and UC-Santa Cruz (9-25, 11-25, 17-25) to finish the west coast trip at 2-2.
Bard's first match of the day was the first-ever meeting between Bard and Franklin College of Franklin, Indiana. The Grizzlies (2-1) swept the Raptors in three games, hitting .240 for the match, including .433 in the second set.
Maracela Talamantes had five kills to lead Bard.
Jewel Smith had 13 assists and 12 digs, and
Emily Anastasi led the squad with 15 digs.
Bard finished the tournament with a loss to the host Banana Slugs (4-0), who hit .235 and got 11 kills and 16 digs from Claire Okerlund (Fullerton, CA).

Lilian O'Donnell were named to the All Tournament Second Team.
The Raptors got six kills and six digs from Talamantes, Smith had 15 assists, and
Emily Anastasi had nine digs.
Bard will head back to campus this weekend for the start of classes. The next match is at John Jay with William Paterson on Sept. 7.
