ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team lost to Elmira College, 7-4, in a non-league game on Wednesday afternoon.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Bard put up three runs on a sacrifice fly by
Alex Luscher, and a two-out, two-strike, two-run single by
Esteban Rivera.
Elmira cut the deficit to 3-2 with a pair of runs on three hits in the fifth, but Bard made it 4-2 on a triple by
Robert Arciola and an RBI groundout by
Julian Gonzalez in the bottom of the fifth. The Raptors (12-17) were held without a hit from there, while Elmira rallied to take the lead with two runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Jansen Crossley (Vancouver, BC) and Jourdan Plaisted (Walworth, NY) each went 2-for-5 with a double for the Soaring Eagles (4-22).Â
Arciola went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored for Bard. Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Bard is scheduled to play a four-game Liberty League series at Clarkson on Friday and Saturday, but inclement weather in the forecast will likely affect that series. Keep an eye on the schedule page for updates about the status of those games.
