Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Bard topped by Vassar, Johnson & Wales

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team was defeated by Vassar College and Johnson & Wales University in straight sets Saturday afternoon, in a tri-match hosted by Vassar.

Set scores against Vassar were 25-12, 25-15 and 25-11. 

The Brewers of Vassar (5-3 overall, 1-1 United Volleyball Conference) hit .302 in the match, including .500 in the first set. They collected 29 kills, 15 aces and three blocks in the win. Sean Hsu (Pleasanton, CA) finished with nine kills and five aces to lead the hosts.

For Bard, Tristan Kozul powered the way with eight kills, seven digs, a block and an ace. Nic Smith added six assists and five digs in the effort. 

In the second contest, Johnson & Wales beat Bard, 3-0. Set scores for the contest were 25-7, 25-14 and 25-14. With the loss, Bard dropped to 1-5, as the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales improved to 7-1. 

The Wildcats hit .458 and produced 36 kills, 11 aces and four blocks in the win. The Raptors meanwhile, finished with 15 kills and hit .312 in the third set. Kozul led Bard with 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks. Joshua Han added two kills, an assist and a dig in the effort. 

For Johnson & Wales, Michael Foglia (Wayne, NJ) collected eight kills, while Jason Rhee (Aurora, CO) added 29 assists.

Up next for Bard is more UVC action, as the team travels to New Paltz to take on the Hawks on February 13th. That match is set to begin at 7 p.m. and you can follow it here.
