ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team honored six seniors before Saturday's Liberty League game against second-ranked William Smith College, reading tributes from both the coaching staff and the parents.
It was a bittersweet Senior Day for
Alina Augustin,
Rachel Mordecai,
Julia Gibson,
Susan Andreas,
Sarah George and
Giuliana Scanni.
William Smith got goals from six different players in a 6-0 victory, the Herons' eighth straight win. It was just happenstance that Bard's seniors played their final home game against one of the best teams in the country.
William Smith dominated possession from the start, and scored early, in the fourth minute, but Bard battled from there and it remained 1-0 deep into the first half. But three goals in 10 minutes before the end of the half made it 4-0 at the break. Elizabeth Moore (Williamsville, NY), Julia Berg (Charlottesville, VA), Seneca Blakeley-Armitage (Ithaca, NY) and Charlottte Carrau (New Rochelle, NY) scored those goals.
Phoebe Wade (Brooklyn, NY) and Sarah Gray (Littleton, CO) scored in the second half for William Smith, 12-1-1 overall, 8-0-0 in the Liberty League.
Felicia Flores and
Julia Spenser produced shots for Bard, 3-12-1, 0-8-0.
Abigail Stanley made four saves in the first half, and
Skylar Farmer made five saves in the second half.
Bard's 2019 season will conclude at Skidmore on Saturday, Nov. 2.
