CANTON, N.Y. - Playing in their second conference match in as many days, the Bard College women's soccer team fell to St. Lawrence University by a 1-0 score Saturday afternoon.
The Raptors (3-11-1, 0-7 LL) were unable to break through offensively in the first half, but junior goalkeeper
Abigail Stanley kept Bard in the game, making six saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the game at a scoreless tie heading into the intermission.
Although the Raptors hung in, the Saints (9-3, 4-2 LL) were able to break through late, as Isabel Silvia (Wellesley, Mass.) beat Stanley on a shot to the bottom left corner of the net to give St. Lawrence the lead in the 76th minute, with Julia Mulhern (Beaconsfield, Que.) picking up the assist. The goal would prove to be the game winner, as Bard was unable to come through with the tying goal in the final minutes, falling 1-0.
Stanley made nine saves on the day for the Raptors, who now look to rebound in their final home match of the season when they take on William Smith College Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m.
