Women's soccer drops conference road matchup with Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - On the first day of their back-to-back road matchups, the Bard College women's soccer team fell by a 3-0 score to Clarkson University Friday afternoon.

The game remained scoreless throughout most of the first half, but the Golden Knights (9-4-1, 2-3 LL) were able to strike first on a goal by Camryn Careccia (Watervliet, N.Y.) in the 30th minute, with Giulia Mahoney (Walworth, N.Y.) providing the assist to give Clarkson a 1-0 lead.

The home team was able to extend their lead before the half, as Mahoney picked up a goal of her own in the 36th minute, coming off an assist by Alicia Bushey (Niskayuna, N.Y.) to put Clarkson up by two heading into the intermission.

The Raptors (3-10-1, 0-6 LL) attempted to cut into the lead in the second half and pull within a goal, but the Golden Knights were able to extend their lead five minutes in, as Danielle Martin (Bath, N.H.) found the back of the net to give Clarkson a three goal lead. Bard was unable to break through against a tough Clarkson defense, as the visitors fell by a 3-0 score, while Bard goalkeeper Abigail Stanley made eight saves on the day.

The Raptors are back in action Saturday, Oct. 19, as they continue their road trip with a visit to Canton, N.Y. to take on conference opponent St. Lawrence University, with game time scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
