ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Looking to get back in the win column following a loss to SUNY Cobleskill Tuesday night, the Bard College women's volleyball team dropped a conference matchup with RIT Friday evening at home.
The Tigers (12-8, 2-1 LL) got off to a strong start, picking up a lead early in the first set. The Raptors (6-12, 0-3 LL) responded with a 7-0 run late in the set, but it was not enough as RIT took the first set by a 25-15 score.
The teams played a back and forth second set featuring six ties and four lead changes, but the Tigers were able to pull away late, picking up a 25-18 win in set two.
Bard came back strong in the third. The Raptors jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, picking up a wire-to-wire victory in the set three by a score of 25-16 and cutting the RIT lead to 2-1.
However, that was the closest Bard would get. The Tigers got out to a strong lead in the fourth and were able to put the match away with a 25-14 victory in the fourth set to pick up a 3-1 victory.
On the night, senior
Maracela Talamantes led the team with 12 kills and had 10 digs, tying her with senior
Emily Anastasi for most digs during the match. Junior
