SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team was defeated by Skidmore College in straight sets Saturday afternoon, in a Liberty League match.
Set scores were 25-10, 25-13 and 25-22. The Raptors are now 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the Liberty League. Meanwhile, the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore are 10-4 and 2-0.
After dropping the first two sets, the Raptors responded with their best effort of the game, pushing the hosts to the very end in set three. Early in the final set, Skidmore jumped out to a 7-2 advantage, but the Raptors kept fighting, eventually tying the contest at 14-14.
From there, Bard stayed neck and neck with the hosts, getting as close as 23-22 late into the game. The Thoroughbreds didn't a suffer letdown however, as they scored the final two points of the set to win, 25-22.
For the second straight contest,
Victoria Chou powered the Bard offense, as the senior finished with four kills, four digs, three aces and nine assists.
Storm Bookhard added three kills and 10 digs, while
Emily Anastasi collected 14 digs in the effort.
Katy Ehnstrom (Kaneohe, HI) led Skidmore with 13 kills and two aces in the win, while Caite Canfield (Waterloo, Belgium) tallied seven kills and 14 digs.
