Raptors sweep York College

JAMAICA, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team breezed past York College in straight sets Wednesday evening in a non-conference game.

Set scores for the match were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-14.

The Raptors held the advantage most of the night, thanks in large part to the success of their offense.

Bard finished with 38 kills and a .313 hitting percentage in the contest, while limiting the errors to just 12. York meanwhile, committed 21 errors and managed just 21 kills on .013 hitting in the loss.

The first and third sets saw Bard jump out to big leads, as the Raptors won each comfortably. The second set played out a tad tighter, as York was able to get within two points late in the contest down, 19-17.

However, Bard wouldn't be denied in the set or match. The guests rallied off five straight points to get to match point, before taking the set, 25-20.

Captain Tyler Zowaski led the charge for the Raptors, as he collected a game-high 15 kills. The senior also added seven assists and nine digs.

Stefan Briggs added eights kills, Tristan Kozul tallied 11 digs and Josh Kim set a career-high with 27 assists in the win.

Akeem George (Angullia, West Indies) led the Cardinals with seven kills. Larry Moore (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) collected 15 assists in the loss.

Up next for Bard is a 10-day break before the team returns to UVC action on March 24th at Nazareth College. That contest is set to begin at 6 p.m.
