HARTFORD, Conn. - With all of the day's matches complete except for one, and with everyone standing and watching, Bard College junior
Olivia Terzian won a five-set match to lift to Raptors to a 5-4 victory over Boston University in a women's squash match on Sunday afternoon.
Bard started with a 1-0 lead due to BU only having eight players, so
Mahnoor Khawaja accepted a default at No. 9.
Francesca Keller,
Francesca Cornali and
Renad Bdair won at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 respectively, but the Terriers won at Nos. 5-8 to tie the match up.
That left is up to Terzian, who then outlasted BU sophomore Normandie Essig (Washington, DC) 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 8-11 and 11-6. It gave the Raptors a third victory in their inaugural varsity season.
All that remains for Bard is the College Squash Assocation Team Championships, to be held in Boston Feb. 16-18.
