ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team was defeated by Clarkson University in straight sets Friday evening, in a Liberty League contest.
Set scores for the game were 25-7, 25-18 and 25-16. The Raptors fell to 6-11 overall on the season and 0-3 in league play, while the Golden Knights of Clarkson advanced to 9-7 and 2-2.
After dropping the first frame, Bard answered with its best set of night, despite falling behind early in the frame. Trailing 15-7 midway through, Bard managed to cut the deficit to 22-17 late, before the visitors regrouped to pull out the 25-18 set win. The Raptors finished with a .212 hitting percentage and 11 kills in the frame, both of which were game highs for the hosts.Â
In the final set, Bard grabbed an early 4-3 lead off a
Maracela Talamantes kill, before Clarkson answered with four straight points to regain control. From there, the guests led the rest of the way, eventually winning the set, 25-16. The Golden Knights finished with a .344 hitting percentage, 37 kills and just six errors over the three frames.
Rachel Reusch (Buffalo, NY) powered Clarkson with a game-high 11 kills, two aces and two blocks in the win. Amanda Collins (Pearland, TX) collected 18 assists for the Golden Knights.Â
For the Raptors,
Storm Bookhard finished with nine kills and 15 digs, while
Jewel Smith added 15 assists in the effort.Â
