TROY, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team opened the Liberty League portion of the 2017 schedule with a 3-0 loss to RPI on Saturday afternoon.
The Engineers (4-2-1, 1-0 Liberty League) scored in the third minute and really never looked back. It was a throw-in from the far side that took one big hop off the RPI turf and found Stephanie May (Windham, NH), who was unmarked in front. She volleyed the ball past
Tessa Greenhalgh for a 1-0 lead.
RPI's second goal came off a long through ball that Emily Kaplan (Smithtown, NY) ran onto, leaving her one-on-one with Greenhalgh, and it was 2-0 in the 17th minute. Hannah Bordogna (Andover, MA) added a goal in the 72nd minute to finish the scoring.
RPI outshot Bard 22-4. The Raptors (5-2, 0-1) produced just two shots on goal, one by
Dylan McDonald, one by
Sarah George. Greenhalgh made seven saves.
