ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball lost its Liberty League opener Friday night, falling to the Bombers of Ithaca College in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were 25-17, 25-15 and 25-14.
The loss dropped the Raptors to 3-10 overall, while Ithaca improved to 7-4.Â
Both teams started the game slow, as neither side could build an early lead in the first set. It wasn't until the score was 8-7 in Ithaca's favor that things changed.
The Bombers responded with an 11-0 run to take control. Bard cut into the lead later on in the game, but it was substantial enough that Ithaca held on to win the set.Â
The second and third sets played out similarly to the first, with Ithaca going on big runs en route to victory. While the Raptors didn't manage to win a set, their play improved over the three games.Â
The Bombers totaled a .289 hitting percentage overall on the evening, including .333 in both the second and third sets. Bard meanwhile, could only manage -.082 percentage over the three sets.Â
Lulu Strauss finished with six kills to lead the Raptors.
Victoria Chou collected 11 assists and
Emily Anastasi added nine digs in the loss.
Reagan Stone (St. Louis, MO) led all players with seven kills and Delaney Runyon (Laguna Hills, CA) recorded 16 assists for Ithaca.
Up next for the Raptors are two more contests tomorrow (9/23). The first is against Liberty League rival, RIT, at 1 p.m. Then later in the afternoon, the Raptors will host SUNY Poly in a non-conference game. That match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
RIT and SUNY Poly are set to square off in-between at 3 p.m.Â
