TROY, N.Y - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost at Sage College Wednesday night in straight sets.
Set scores for the contest were, 25-16, 25-15 and 25-22.
The Raptors (5-21) fell behind early in the first and second sets, as the Gators of Sage (15-14) used big runs to set the tone from the beginning.
Sage started the opening set by taking a 10-3 lead, forcing Bard to call an early timeout. Following the stoppage, the Raptors rebounded to cut the deficit to just four points at, 12-8.
However, that was as close as Bard would get the rest of the way, as Sage took the first set, 25-16.
The second set didn't heal the Raptors' first set woes either, as the visitors fell behind, 9-0 to start the frame. The Gators extended their lead to 11 points, up 19-8 late in the contest, before finished Bard off, 25-15.
The third set was the best of the night for Bard, as they held the lead for most of the set, until it ultimately slipped away late.
The Raptors were up,19-18 late in the set, before a series of unforced errors handed Sage the lead. The hosts wouldn't relinquish it the rest of the way, winning the set, 25-22 and the match, 3-0.
Sage hit .292 overall on the night, including .550 in the third set.
Senior
Alex Adams led Bard with six kills in the game, while fellow senior,
Mahir Sheikh, led the team in assists with 20.
Tyler Zowaski added six digs in the effort.
Sage meanwhile, received 16 kills from Bailey Ceechi (Agawam, MA) and 27 assists from Austin Laverty (Schenectady, NY).
The Raptors will return to action this weekend, April 8th, as they travel to Aurora, NY to take on Wells College. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m. and you can follow it right here.
