CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost to Elms College, 3-0, in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon.
Set scores for the Blazers (5-4) were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-17.
The first was close throughout, but Elms scored the last five points to win it, 25-18. The Raptors got down 8-1 in the second set and didn't get closer than five the rest of the way, losing it 25-16. Five straight points in the middle of the third set broke open a close one, and the Raptors fell to 1-8 on the season.
Daniel Bondarovsky (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) led Elms with eight kills and hit .438. John Dunphy (Farmington, CT) had 18 assists, and Audrye Alejandro (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico) had 15 digs.
In spite of the loss, the match was a coming out party for Bard freshman
Tristan Kozul, who had 11 kills, five blocks, and six digs. He hit .526.
Mahir Sheikh had 19 assists, and
Tyler Zowaski had 12 digs.
