CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bard College men's squash team lost to Denison University, 9-0, in the consolation semifinals of the Chaffee Cup (E Division) at the College Squash Association National Team Championships on Saturday.
The Raptors won the first set in four of the nine matches but could not pull out a team point.
Satwik Srikrishnan lost a five-set battle at No. 7, while
Ayateru Maeda,
Aman Kurien,
Theo Webb and
Artun Ak all lost in four sets at Nos. 2, 6, 8 and 9, respectively.
Coach
Craig Thorpe-Clark lauded the efforts of Srikrishnan, Webb and Ak in particular after the match.
The tournament is set up in several brackets, which descend down the national rankings. The E Division, or the Chaffee Cup, includes the teams ranked 33rd through 40th. Bard lost to No. 33 Bucknell on Friday, and to No. 36 Denison on Saturday. The Raptors are ranked No. 40.
Bard has one more chance to match last year's program record of 11 wins. They'll play No. 39 University of Washington on Sunday at 12:30 at MIT.
