ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's squash team flexed its muscle on day one of the Bard Round Robin, topping Vassar College and Swarthmore College, 9-0, in each contest.
The Raptors kicked off the afternoon with a convincing win over their Liberty League rival, not dropping a single game along the win.
In its second match, Bard continued its dominance, as the hosts dropped just one game en route to victory over Swarthmore.
Entering the day, Bard's No.1 Rhys Nordstrom had never beaten Henry Ortmeyer, Swarthmore's No.1, so when Ortmeyer jumped out to 1-0 lead, some thought the result might be the same.
However, Nordstrom had other ideas.
As his teammates' cheers loudly echoed throughout the Stevenson Athletic Center, the junior rallied back to win the next three sets, 11-7, 11-6 and 11-5, handing him his first win ever over the Swarthmore No.1.
It was the perfect way to punctuate a perfect day for the Raptors.
Up next on the slate for Bard is day two of the Bard Round Robin, as the team will be back in action tomorrow (11/12) to take on Penn State University and Colgate University. The first match will begin at 9 a.m.
