Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Raptors soar past SUNY Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball dispatched SUNY Delhi, 3-1, Tuesday night in a non-conference road matchup.

Set scores in the contest were 25-13, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-16.

The Raptors began the game with a great opening frame, leading the entire time except for a 4-4 tie score early in set.

Bard scored eight of final nine points in the frame to roll to a 25-13 victory.

A slow start in the second set put Bard behind, 13-9, before the visitors rallied off nine straight points to take the lead. At that point, it looked like the Raptors would breeze to the set win, but the Broncos of SUNY Delhi had a few rallies of their own left.

The Broncos proceeded to score the next five points, tying the game at 18-18.

Bard responded by scoring the next two points, but SUNY Delhi answered with a four-point rally to take the lead. The hosts didn't relinquish it the rest of the way, ultimately pulling out the win, 25-22.

The Raptors weren't fazed going forward, however.

The third set was all Bard, as the team tallied two separate 6-0 scoring runs en route to a 25-15 win.

The final frame was much of the same, as the Raptors outscored Delhi, 6-2, over the final eight points of match to win, 25-16.

Philippine Alba led the way for Bard with a game-high 12 kills, while Jewel Smith set a personal season-high mark with 31 assists.

Emily Anastasi recorded 30 digs in the win, which marked just the second 30-plus dig performance in Bard history. Anastasi owns the other, with the 33 digs she recorded back in September.

Captain Kaylynn Tran finished with the best all-around game, as she recorded nine kills and 14 digs for Bard.

Taylor Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY) led SUNY Delhi with six kills and two aces in the loss.

Up next for the Raptors is a return to Liberty League action, as they travel to Clarkson University on October 20th. That contest is set to begin at 7 p.m. and you can follow it right here.
