NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team was swept by New Paltz, 3-0, in a non-league match on Friday night.
Set scores for New Paltz were 25-17, 25-16 and 25-17. The Hawks (13-8) hit .238 in the match, including .409 in the second set.
Bard (4-18) got down 5-0 in the first set and never caught up. The second set was tied, 12-12, then not again, because the Hawks produced 11 kills with just two errors to win it, 25-16. A rally in the third set but a big New Paltz lead to 17-15, but the Hawks again pulled away, scoring the last four points of the match to win it, 21-17.
Taylor Cimillo (Monsey, NY) had seven kills (.357) and eight digs for New Paltz. Maddie Zwickl had 22 assists.
Bard got six kills and seven digs from
Philippine Alba, five kills and two blocks from
Alexis Akingbade, 15 assists from
Jewel Smith, and 11 digs from
Emily Anastasi.
Bard welcomes New Paltz, Mount Holyoke and Hunter to Annandale on Saturday. At noon, Bard will play Mount Holyoke, and New Paltz will face Hunter. At 2:30, Bard will host Hunter and New Paltz will take on Mount Holyoke.
