PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost both of its matches Saturday morning, falling to Lasell College and Regis College in straight sets.
Set scores for the Lasell match were, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-10 and 25-13, 25-21 and 25-18 against Regis.
The Raptors (1-7) improved their hitting on day two of the Johnson & Wales Tip-Off Tournament compared to day one, but their opposition's hitting improved as well.
In the first match of the day, which began at 9:00 a.m., Bard started slow.
Following the Raptors tying the game up at four each on a kill from 
Alex Adams, the Lasers of Lasell College (5-0) responded by outscoring Bard, 18-8, over the next 26 points to take a 22-12 lead.
Bard was able to score three straight points to cut into the deficit, but ultimately fell in the set. 
The second set was full of rallies for each team. The Raptors jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but that lead was quickly answered by Lasell's four straight points.
The Raptors responded by scoring two points to take a 5-4 lead, before the Lasers scored six straight to go up, 10-5. 
Bard answered with three points to cut the deficit to 10-8, before Lasell swiftly responded with seven straight points to take a 17-8 lead, essentially ending Bard's chance in the set and match. 
The third set opened with Lasell jumping out to an 8-1 lead, as they cruised to finish, 25-10.
For the match, the Raptors hit .046 and the Lasers hit .375. 
Tristan Kozul led Bard with eight kills, while 
Mahir Sheikh collected 16 assists. 
Tristan Davis (Rochester, NY) recorded a team-high 10 kills for Lasell, and Andy Henriquez (Lawrence, MA) finished with 22 assists.  
In the second match of the morning, Bard hit the best it had all weekend, finishing with a .156 hitting percentage.
Unfortunately for the Raptors, Regis College (1-4) hit .483 in the match and was able to win in straight sets.
Bard fell behind early in the first and third set, but made the second set a close contest.
The Raptors trailed by just one point late in the set, 21-20, following a kill from 
Tyler Zowaski. However, Regis responded with four of the next five points to claim the set.
Adams led Bard with nine kills, eight digs and was named to the Johnson & Wales Invitational All-Tournament team.
Regis College got 11 kills from Wade Robidoux (Granby, MA).
