GENEVA, N.Y. - A 23-2 run over an eight-minute span in the first half turned a six-point deficit into a 15-point lead, and the Hobart College men's basketball team cruised past Bard, 78-52, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
Hobart improved to 11-8 overall, 6-4 in conference play. Bard is 2-16, 0-9.
The Raptors led 11-6 about five minutes into the game, but the Statesmen rattled off 13 straight points during that 23-2 run and led 40-23 at halftime. Bard was hurt by 14 first-half turnovers. The lead got as big as 33 points in the second half.
Hobart was led by Colin Dougherty (Lockport, NY), who had 22 points, and Jamal Lucas (New York, NY), who finished with 17.
Bard got a career-high 21 points from
Harry Johnson, and 10 points and five rebounds from freshman
Christopher Rogers.
