ANNADALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.- The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Tuesday night, 56-48, after the team's late rally fizzled out.

The Raptors (2-17, 0-10 Liberty League) were extremely lucky to be in the game late, following a first half performance that involved the team connecting on only 11 percent of its shots (3-27 overall, 1-12 from three).

After the first half gloom, things didn't immediately get better for the Raptors once the second half began.

In fact, with 11:47 remaining in the game, the Engineers of RPI (11-10, 5-7 Liberty League) had manufactured a 23-point lead, up 45-22.

But Bard didn't go quietly.

Over the next ten minutes, the Raptors embarked on a 26-8 scoring run, cutting the lead to, 53-48, with 1:28 remaining in the second half.

Following a defensive stop, Bard had a great chance to make it a one possession game, but Chris Lockwood's jumper, with :30 seconds remaining, didn't find the bottom of the net.

From there, time ran out on the Raptors, as RPI was able to cling onto their victory late.

Bard used a better shooting second half to make its comeback attempt, hitting on 41 percent of its shots in the 20-minute frame.

For the game, the hosts only hit on 28 percent of their attempts while RPI connected on 41 percent of its shots. 

The Raptors' leading scorer on the evening was Lockwood, who posted 14 points. Harry Johnson also hit double figures, chipping in 11 points. 

Andreas Kontopidis (Sherborn, MA) and Brian Hatcher (Danbury, CT), each tallied 14 points for the visitors.
