ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's soccer team outshot Lehman College, 39-5, and dominated from start to finish in a 4-0 victory on Wednesday night.
The Raptors (3-0) got goals from four different players and held Lehman's dazzling striker, reigning CUNYAC Player of the Year Chelsey Harris (Bronx, NY), without a shot on goal.
The game was scoreless through 30 minutes in spite of Bard's possession advantage, but junior
Avalon Qian changed that in the 31st minute. A ball was played back to a lone defender, and Qian rushed her, stuffing the attempted clear and busting in on a breakaway. She beat Linda Resto (Bronx, NY) to the far post, and it was 1-0 at halftime. Bard had a 17-3 edge in shots at the break.
In the 52nd minute, Qian hit the post with a strike, but
Katie Hopper pounced on the rebound and put it home for a 2-0 lead. In the 82nd minute,
Adrianna Candor headed in a corner from
Dylan McDonald, and in the 88th minute,
Giuliana Scanni closed the scoring with a lefty shot as she ran left to right across the box.
Resto made 10 saves for Lehman, 1-1.
Chloe Ramos made three saves for Bard.
Up next for Bard is the Alfred University Kick-Off Classic, to be held this weekend. On Saturday, Bard will play host Alfred at 8 p.m.; on Sunday, Bard will face nationally-ranked Rowan at 3:30. Keep your eye on the schedule page, because live links will be up there soon.
