Bard falls to USMMA, 3-0

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team lost to U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 3-0, in a non-league match on Thursday night.

Set scores for the hosts were 25-13, 25-15 and 25-18. USSMA produced 44 kills to Bard's 17 and was really only challenged in the third set.

The Raptors (2-16) were up 9-5 in the final set, and it was tied 16-16, but the Mariners (7-4) closed it out.

Kate Lefler (Norman, OK) led USmMA with 11 kills and Kyleigh Kappas (Parker, CO) had 40 assists.

Bard got nine kills from Philippine Alba, 14 assists from Maracela Talamantes, and 12 digs from Emily Anastasi.

The Raptors head to Connecticut next for a tri-match at University of St. Joseph. They'll play Mount Ida at 1 and USJ at 3. Follow both matches via Live Stats or Live Video right here.
