ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Institute of Technology baseball team exploded for 36 runs on 40 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Bard on Saturday, 19-4 and 17-2.
RIT improved to 16-21 overall and 10-12 in the Liberty League; Bard fell to 10-28, 5-17.
The first game was 13-0 through four innings, including a seven-run fourth keyed by a three-run homer from Will Gorman (Nassau, NY). Gorman finished the first game with two homers, a double and eight RBI.
Dylan Long went 3-for-3 with three RBI, and
Jeff Goldrosen went 2-for-2 with one RBI for the Raptors.
Bard got up in the top of the first of Game Two, 1-0, on a two-out RBI single by Goldrosen, but the Tigers resumed their torrid hitting with one run in the first, four in the second and one in the third to go up, 6-1.
That was enough for Rory Little (Burnt Hills, NY), who gave up two runs on eight hits over seven innings. Daniel Zeglen (Scotia, NY) went 2-for-4 with two triples and three RBI, and Patrick Mylott (Aurora, OH) went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
