After dropping first set, Raptors cruise past Brooklyn

ANNDANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College men's volleyball team dropped the opening set, then cruised past Brooklyn College, 3-1, in a non-league match on Friday night.
 
The set scores for the Raptors were 25-27, 25-14, 25-10, and 25-13/ Bard improved to 9-21, while Brooklyn fell to 8-20.

Bard led throughout the first set and was up 22-19, only to lose it, 27-25.

Bard jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second set and never looked back, collecting 15 kills to win it, 25-14. The Raptors produced 14 kills in the third set and won that one, 25-10.

Seven unanswered points early in the second set gave Bard a 13-6 lead, and the Raptors clinched it, 25-13, with a .345 hitting percentage and 13 kills.

Brooklyn got 11 kills from Rudy Zhao (New York, NY) and 19 assists from Sayuj Zachariah (Floral Park, NY).

Senior Jesse Small had 16 kills (.600) and 13 digs for Bard. Alex Adams also had 16 kills, to go with seven aces. Kai Bernier-Chen had 16 assists and four blocks, Tyler Zowaski had 10 digs, and Troy Robertson chipped in with eight kills and four blocks.

The 2016 season and the college careers of four Bard seniors will end on Saturday. Bard hosts City College of New York and Marymount University in a non-league tri-match, starting at 11 a.m. It'll be Senior Day for Bernier-Chen, Robertson, Small and Daniel Gagne.
