PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bard College men's volleyball team defeated Lesley University and York College on the final day of the Johnson & Wales Invitational on Saturday.
Bard swept Lesley, 3-0, and topped York, 3-1.
The Raptors beat Lesley 25-7, 25-11 and 25-16. In the first set, Bard produced 13 kills and no errors for a .591 hitting percentage. Bard hit .441 for the match, a season best.
Tyler Burns (Newtown, PA) had 12 kills for the Lynx (0-9). Karuna Cheimruom (Cranston, RI) had 17 assists.
Bard got nine kills and a whopping .900 hitting percentage from
Troy Robertson.
Alex Adams added eight kills.
Kai Bernier-Chen and
Mahir Sheikh had 13 assists apiece and
Tyler Zowaski led Bard with 10 digs.
Against York (9-14), Bard prevailed 25-13, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-15 - again on the strength of a good hitting percentage, this time .314.
Akeem George (Anguilla, West Indies) led the Cardinals with nine kills.
Bard (4-17) got 15 kills from
Alex Adams (.400), nine kills and six blocks from Robertson, 23 assists from Sheikh and 11 digs from
Jesse Small.
Up next for Bard is a non-league tri-match at Elms College with Daniel Webster College on Saturday.
