CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bard College men's volleyball team was swept by 13th-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United Volleyball Conference opener for both teams on Friday night.
Set scores for the winners were 25-10, 25-21 and 25-20.
The Engineers hit .364 in the first set and never trailed. Bard got down 11-3 in the second set, but the Raptors rallied to cut it to 21-20 before losing the set, 25-21. The third set was tied seven times, the last time at 20-20, before MIT finished the sweep.
The winners got eight kills from Tom Leech (Meadville, PA), 15 assists from Yize Dong (Moraga, CA) and seven digs from Brendan Chang (Laytonsville, MD). MIT is 5-1 overall, 1-0 in the UVC.
Bard's
Jesse Small had seven kills, seven digs and hit .357.
Kai Bernier-Chen had 10 assists,
Mahir Sheikh contributed eight assists and three digs, and
Tyler Zowaski finished with eight digs. Bard is 0-5, 0-1.
The Raptors will play two matches at MIT on Saturday. They'll play Endicott at 10:30 a.m., then Emmanuel at 1. Follow both matches via Live Stats right here.
