PURCHASE, N.Y. - Gemma Godfrey scored once in each half - on assists from Abbey Labrecque both times - and the Bard College women's soccer team defeated Purchase College, 2-0, in a non-league game on Tuesday night.

Bard (4-2-1) jumped out early, as Godfrey took a cross from Labrecque and beat Purchase keeper Briana Leon (Glen Cove, NY) to the far post for a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.

The Raptors carried play during the middle portion of the first half, and Godfrey hit the post with a shot in the 24th minute. But Purchase (0-4) had the better of the play in the final five minutes of the half, only to be stopped on two occasions by Bard keeper Kelsey O'Brien from close range.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Bard carried play early and went up 2-0 in the 59th minute, when Godfrey took a pass from Labrecque at the 18 and beat Leon high. Purchase was able to create some pressure late, but never broke though.

Leon made four saves and O'Brien made five. Bard outshot Purchase, 18-10.

The Raptors are off until Saturday, when they open Liberty League play at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday at 2. Follow that game via Live Stats or Live Video right here.
