Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Raptors take two matches this weekend on the road, improve to 4-4.

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team swept a pair of matches on Saturday - their first three-match winning streak since 2010 - and improved to 4-4.

Bard opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence College, then edged host Maritime in a thrilling five-setter later.

Set scores for Bard were 25-14, 25-14 and 25-12 against Sarah Lawrence (1-3). Sofia Koukia led Bard with 12 kills on 15 attempts (.733) and added three aces, while Tytravia Riley had seven kills and two digs. Philippine Alba had four aces along with an assist and three digs while Victoria Chou had 33 assists and three kills along with five aces.

Bard prevailed against Maritime 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 33-35 and 15-11.


Against Maritime (2-3). the Raptors dropped the first set before taking the next two. They lost a long fourth set in which the teams battled point for point before Bard eventually fell, 35-33.

Bard was up two sets to one when the home team tied it in an exciting fourth set, which the Privateers took, 35-33.

The fifth set was much less dramatic, with Bard trailing only once at the beginning of the frame. The Raptors went to win 15-11.

Koukia, Riley and Chou each had double-doubles. Koukia produced 21 kills and 16 digs; Riley had 16 and 11 digs; and Chou had 43 assists and 17 digs. Alba led the way defensively with 19 digs, and added three aces.

Bard, which has won four games in a season for the first time since 2013, o
pens up Liberty League play on Friday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Their first match is against host Skidmore at 4 p.m., with a match against Clarkson following at 6 p.m.
