ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost a pair of United Volleyball Conference matches on Saturday.
The Raptors were swept by both Penn State-Behrend and ninth-ranked NYU. In the middle match, NYU bests Behrend, 3-0.
Behrend (9-8 overall, 1-4 UVC) hit .369 and defeated Bard 25-16, 25-16 and 25-12. The Lions got 11 kills (.529) from 6-7 middle Trenton Munk (Baden, PA), and nine kills and nine digs apiece from Ty Sheehan (Cochranton, PA) and Eric Theiss (Plum, PA). Mitch Farabaugh (N. Huntingdon, PA) had 31 assists.
For Bard,
Alex Adams had six kills and seven digs,
Jesse Small had six kills, Joseph Steir contributed 18 assists, and
Tyler Zowaski had seven digs.
Ninth-ranked NYU improved to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the UVC with two sweeps. The Violets hit .318 and beat Bard 25-15, 25-21 and 25-17. Sophomore Chase Klein (Pacific Palisades, CA) had 15 kills with no errors (.714), Jaime Rivera (San Juan, PR) had 28 assists, and Jake Getz (Santa Cruz, CA) added 10 kills and 10 digs.
Bard (7-15, 0-5 UVC) got 11 kills and four digs from Adams. Stier had 25 assists and Zowaski finished with 11 digs.
That match was the last home contest of the season for the Raptors. Up next is a non-league contest at Purchase College on Tuesday night at 7.
