PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team had a great hitting night and swept Purchase College in a non-league match on Tuesday night, matching last year's win total in the process.
Bard prevailed 25-17, 25-23 and 25-14 to improve to 8-15 overall. The Raptors went 8-24 last year.
Bard hit .321 and got at least one kill from everyone who played.
Jesse Small led the way with 11 kills (.360) and the Raptors got a big night from freshman
Stefan Briggs, who had eight kills with no errors on 11 attempts and hit .727.
Kai Bernier-Chen had four kills and a team-high nine digs;
Joseph Stier had 29 assists.
Alex Adams and
Tyler Zowaski had seven digs apiece.
Purchase (4-11) got eight kills from Kevin Carges (Brockport, NY).
The Raptors are off for a couple of weeks. They next play at Sage on Mar. 25.
