ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The University of Rochester baseball team banged out 37 runs on 37 hits, including six home runs, and swept Bard College in a Liberty League doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.
The Yellowjackets won the first game, 16-9, and the second game, 21-7.
The Raptors (3-12 overall, 1-7 Liberty League) were down 10-0 in the first game after 2 1/2 innings. After picking up a run in the third, the Raptors scored four in the fourth and four in the fifth to trim the YellowJackets' lead to 11-9. But three unearned runs in the sixth and a two-run homer in the seventh put it away, 16-7.
Adam Carafotes went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI, and
Steve Marotta went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Alec Montecalvo went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and
Lee Perry also went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Only half of the runs Bard gave up were earned, due to six errors.
In the second game, once again Rochester started fast, scoring four in the first and four in the second to go up 8-0. A two-run triple by
Matt Lasky and an RBI groundout by
David Schlosser cut it to 8-3.

Quinn McInerney cut Rochester's lead to 9-5 in the fourth, but the YellowJackets responded with five in the fifth to make it 14-5. They added two in the sixth, two in the seventh, two in the eighth, and one in the ninth. Junior Brian Munoz (Round Rock, TX) went 4-for-7 with two homers, a triple and three RBI, and senior Sam Slutsky (Cherry Hill, NJ) went 3-for-5 with four RBI.
Perry went 3-for-4 in the second game for Bard, and Carafotes went 1-for-5 with a triple.
