Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late run pushes Raptors past Sarah Lawrence, 72-62

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - For the second straight game, foul trouble was dragging Bard College down. With 10:19 left in Tuesday night's game, the Raptors were looking at a five-point deficit on the road at Sarah Lawrence College, and five players were in foul trouble.

Bard responded with a 12-0 run to retake the lead, and that provided the foundation for a 24-9 burst to end the game, as the Raptors prevailed, 72-62.

The Raptors (3-2) led for all but 26 seconds of the first half, and were ahead, 38-34, at the break. But the Gryphons (2-6) took advantage of Bard's lingering foul trouble, putting together an 11-3 run while Bard alternately sat and played five players in varying degrees of foul trouble - four with three fouls, one with four.

The Raptors went five-plus minutes without a point during that stretch, and were fortunate that Sarah Lawrence didn't get too much going at the time. The hosts led, 45-41, with 13 minutes left.

With 10:19 remaining, the Gryphons led 53-48. That's when Bard took charge.

Five straight points from Caleb LaRosa tied it. A pair of DeVahnte Mosley free throws, a three-pointer from Chris Lockwood, and a layup from Mosley made it a 12-0 run, and Bard had regained the lead, 60-53.

The Raptors responded to every push Sarah Lawrence made from there. After they cut it to four with 6:34 left, Tim Quashie hit a pair of free throws. They cut it to four again with 5:28 left, and Quashie hit another free throw.

When Sarah Lawrence cut it to 65-60, they called time out with 2:09 left. Bard's dagger came on the next possession.

Mosley worked his way into the paint for a short jumper, and it didn't go, but Brandon Cunningham grabbed the rebound and dunked it in the same motion, making it 67-60 with 1:50 remaining. Bard made enough free throws down the stretch to put the game away.

Sarah Lawrence got 14 points and 10 rebounds from Stevan Radosavljevic (Lazarevac, Serbia). The Gryphons made 23-of-28 free throws.

Mosley led Bard with 20 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and a block. He went 9-of-12 from the foul line, 6-of-8 in the second half. LaRosa added 13 points, and Chris Lockwood added 10. They each went 3-of-6 from three-point range coming off the bench.

Bard next plays on Thursday at Medgar Evers College. There is no live coverage of the event; follow Bard Athletics on Twitter that night for score updates. Tip is at 7.
