ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College men's squash team swept Brandeis University, 9-0, and made history on Sunday.
The Raptors have a five-match winning streak, the first in the history of the program. They're 6-1.
"I am pleased with the team," Bard coach
Craig Thorpe-Clark said. "We have a hard-working group of players who have shown an increased level of work ethic and commitment. Our recent results show the talent, commitment and depth we have as a team."
Rhys Nordstrom won in a sweep at No. 1;
Ayateru Maeda (No. 2) and
Julian Dime (No. 4) each lost their first game, then went on to win in four.
"Julian's match was a good challenge for him," Thorpe-Clark said. "He stuck with his game plan, was consistent, and competed well."
Jack Smith prevailed in a sweep at No. 3, taking the second and third games, 12-10 and 16-14.
Abe Etkin (No. 5),
Pranjal Ghate (No. 6) and
Asad Hashmi (No. 7) won in sweeps.
The Raptors return to the court on Dec. 6 in Clinton, N.Y. to square off against Hamilton College and Colgate University. The first matches are set to begin at noon.
