POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Bard College men's squash team snapped a 28-match losing streak with a pair of victories on Saturday, including a stunner over Hudson Valley rival Vassar College.

The Raptors defeated Brandeis, 10-0, before edging host Vassar, 5-4, later in the day, at the Hudson Valley Team Invitational.

Vassar defeated Bard, 8-1, during the Liberty League Championships on Nov. 22. But the Raptors, led by coach Craig Thorpe-Clark, have added players to the roster recently, and they all played a part in Saturday's thrilling victory.

Bard swept Brandeis without losing a game, and accepted three defaults in a 10-0 win.

Against Vassar, John Levering took a game but lost at No. 1. Matt Lampeter battled to win at No. 2 in four games, and Jack Smith swept his opponent at No. 3. Freshman Ayateru Maeda, one of the new additions, won in four games at No. 4, and Abe Etkin won in four games at No. 7. Satwik Srikrishnan won a key five-game match at No. 9, and freshman Pranjal Ghate swept at No. 10 to complete the upset.

Vassar will have an opportunity for revenge on Feb. 8 in Annandale.
