Box Score 2 WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - The Bard College baseball team lost a pair of Liberty League games to Clarkson University on Saturday, 11-1 and 9-3.
In the first game, Clarkson scored twice in the top of the first, and it stayed 2-0 until the top of the fifth, when the Golden Knights tacked on six more. The key hit was a three-run triple by junior Nolan Driscoll (Troy, NY). The story of the game, however, was sophomore right-hander Greg Jasek (Chittenango, NY), who gave up just two hits and struck out 10 over six innings.

Bard scored its only run in the bottom of the seventh, when
Leo Stevens-Lubin walked and eventually scored on a single by
Aaron DePetris.
Jack Hawke and
JP Fisher had Bard's only other hits.
Dylan Long took the loss.
In the second game, Bard jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Fisher led off with a single, Hawke reached on an error, and
Alec Montecalvo plated Fisher with a sacrifice bunt. With one out,
Gabe Kleiman drove in Hawke with a bloop single, and Kleiman scored with two outs when a throw to third on a double steal sailed into left field.
Clarkson cut the lead to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly in the second. The Golden Knights scored five runs in the fourth after two were out, and got another run in the fifth with two out to take a 7-3 lead. Key hits came from Bobby Derico (Watervliet, NY), who had a two-run double in the fourth, and Wixted, who had an RBI single in the fifth. Clarkson added a pair of unearned runs in the eighth to complete the sweep.
Senior Pete Roma (Endicott, NY) gave up eight hits and three runs over 8.2 innings, striking out nine and walking two. Wixted went 2-for-6 and drove in two more runs. Clarkson is 10-10 overall, 6-6 in the Liberty League.
Fisher went 3-for-5 and Hawke added two hits for Bard, 3-16-1 overall, 0-10-1 in the Liberty League.
