Raptors fall to 7th-ranked Stevens in UVC match

Freshman Alex Adams had eight kills and four digs against No. 7 Stevens on Wednesday night.

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Bard College men's volleyball team was swept by 7th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in a United Volleyball Conference match on Wednesday night.

Set scores for the winners were 25-15, 25-16 and 25-23. The Ducks are 10-4 overall, 5-2 in the UVC.

Sophomore Chris Vaughan (Medford, NJ) led Stevens with 15 kills (.538) and nine digs; freshman Gabe Shankweiler (Allentown, PA) added a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Scott Russell (Newport Beach, CA) had 25 assists.

Bard (4-16, 1-6 UVC) got 12 kills and 12 digs from Billy Williams, and 26 assists from Henry Kasiske. Alex Adams contributed eight kills and four digs as well.

Up next for Bard is a non-league match against Dominican University of River Forest, Ill. A first-year program with a roster full of freshmen, the Stars play in the strong Continental Volleyball Conference and were 3-1 in league play heading into Wednesday night's match against No. 8 Carthage, one of four CVC teams currently ranked in the AVCA Top 15.
