ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A 15-5 run to start the second turned a relatively close game into a rout as the Bard College men's basketball team defeated Sarah Lawrence College, 79-48, in a non-league home opener.
Freshman
DeVahnte Mosley, the current Liberty League Rookie of the Week, was a terror for the third straight game. After averaging 22 points and six rebounds per game at the Equinox Classic over the weekend in Pennsylvania, he slashed and dashed his way to 19 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals - all but four points and four rebounds coming in the second half.
The game went back and forth early, and a little run at the end of the first half gave the Raptors a 30-23 lead at the break. But Sarah Lawrence (0-3) managed just two points in the first four minutes of the second half, and the lead was 15 with 14:30 left in the game. Bard pressed and ran from there and ended up scoring 24 points off of 23 Sarah Lawrence turnovers.
The Raptors shot 45 percent from the field in the second half, and for the game made 29-of-35 free throws.
Graham Gilleran (San Francisco, CA) led the visitors with 12 points and eight rebounds. The Gryphons struggled from the field at 31 percent.
Pat Lichtenstein added 12 points for the Raptors, who also got nine each from
Pat Kelly and
Brandon Cunningham.
