NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Bard College women's volleyball team rallied from a set down for the second time in a week, but it wasn't enough this time as the Raptors lost to Mount Saint Mary College, 3-1, in a non-league match on Tuesday night.
The Knights (12-15) took the first set, 25-19, but Bard got up 9-2 and 14-8 in the second set, eventually taking it, 25-18.
The third set proved to be pivotal. The Raptors were down by as much at 18-12 but rallied and eventually tied it at 24-24. The Knights survived, 26-24, then won the fourth set without yielding the lead, 25-17.
The winners got 10 kills and a .300 hitting percentage from junior Maribeth Powers (Yorktown, NY).
Bard (3-24) got 10 kills and two blocks from
Tytravia Riley, eight kills, 22 digs and two aces from
Philippine Alba, and three kills and 18 digs from
Amy Kassowitz.
Lexi Cooper finished with 27 assists and four digs.
The Raptors will wrap up Liberty League play this weekend with four matches at Rochester Institute of Technology. It'll start Friday with matches against RIT and Union, and finish Saturday with matches against Vassar and Skidmore.
