Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bard done in by RPI's second-half burst

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - At halftime on Saturday, the RPI women's soccer team led Bard, 1-0. The Engineers outshot the Raptors 7-2 in the first half, but Bard was still in it. The was a palpable feeling at the break that anything could happen.

RPI put those concerns to rest with a pair of goals five minutes apart early in the second half en route to a 4-1 victory in a Liberty League game.

Bard (4-9-1, 0-5-0 Liberty League) is still dealing with injuries to at least two key starters and just ran out of gas. Against RPI's reserves in the 89th minute, the Raptors did score when Avalon Qian headed in a corner from Isabel Keddy-Hector - Bard's first conference goal on the season - but it was too little, too late.

Shots in the second half were 15-8 in favor of RPI. The Engineers got goals from four different players, the eventual game-winner coming from Coley Mowder (Eldersburg, MD) in the 52nd minute when she pounced on a rebound from close range and punched it in.

RPI improved to 8-4-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Liberty League and is in the thick of the playoff hunt.

Kelsey O'Brien made five saves for Bard and Lily Harris made four. The Raptors have some time to heal up before their next game, at home on Friday afternoon against St. Lawrence.
