Men's volleyball team opens season at SUNYIT Tournament

UTICA, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team opened the season with a pair of losses at the SUNYIT Tournament on Friday, including a five-set thriller that went well into the night.

The Raptors lost the opener to host SUNYIT, 3-0, by set scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22. The Wildcats hit .458 in the first set and .281 for the match; Bard hit .157.

The Raptors got eight kills from Billy Williams, 26 assists and eight digs from Henry Kasiske, and five kills and eight digs from Daniel Gagne. Alex Adams contributed six kills, three digs and three solo blocks.

In the nightcap, Bard lost to Mount Ida, 3-2, by set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25 and 15-13.

Williams had 18 kills (.324) and nine digs; Kasiske had 38 assists and six digs; and Shane McDonald added nine kills and five digs.

The tournament was re-seeded after Friday night's games. The Raptors will play Wells College on Saturday morning at 10, then Cazenovia College at noon.
